Loved the course, condition of the course was outstanding. Greens gave a true roll, bunkers immaculate, rough areas, not over the top, forgiving I’d say.
Got to say the welcome by the staff at WLGC was amazing. Sarah in particular, was exceptional today, really welcoming, very informative. A star.
Food was delicious in the clubhouse, really impressed all round.
Quality varied links golf and a course that rewards course management and calculated risk taking! Wind swirls here so a course planner is handy to read the green hollows (it has a whole page for each green plus the whole itself).
I’ve played royal liverpool and it reminded me of this. It’s got more features and elevation that Hoylake though, which I thought kept it interesting. The back nine is tough with a hard 6 to finish.
Fab practice facilities too. Chipping green, putting green and all-weather range where you can buy balls.
Full rack rate is a bit steep for me but luckily I was a guest of a member. Felt very privileged to be out there and enjoyed every step!
This is pure links and pure class. West lancs is celebrating its 150th year so on arrival we were gifted a really cool west lancs goody bag which included a little bottle of whiskey, quite fitting as one needs a bit of Dutch courage to take on this beast of a course! It’s very unforgiving and in tough weather a real challenge. Condition is stunning. I was a bit suprised to see such a modern club house on arrival, I t’s a great set up with very friendly and helpful staff. The reception hallway is very similar to Birkdale with images of the great players that have played there in open qualifying. Sadly I am going through a purple match (as we all do at some point in our games) but my lack of form and horrendous score did not detract from my enjoyment of this wonderful course. I will return with my game on form to try once more to take on west lancs.

What a fantastic golf course, a true links . Everything about this venue is first class, from the staff in the bar , to the starter, to the guys in the pro shop. This was a 65th birthday gift from my son and we both enjoyed every second of the day.
I would recommend, if you like links golf , this is a must. I know I will treat myself again to a round here again.👍⛳
I would definitely come back. For such a prestigious golf club, the hospitality was very welcoming which made the experience much better. The course is amazing and would definitely come back when I get the opportunity to.
Absolutely amazing course in fantastic condition, particularly considering all the recent rain in the NW. I’ve been looking forward to this for months and can honestly say it does not disappoint in any aspect.
Special mention must go to James, the starting official who was extremely friendly knowledgeable, not just about West Lancs but any other course you care to mention.
Also, Sarah was very warm, friendly and welcoming. They are clearly very proud of the club and why not, it’s superb.

Played it yesterday and the course was in excellent condition. Firm greens and dry fairways. The staff in the clubhouse are very friendly and helpful making it a great day around.
